About Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar Yoga is the name given to a unique method of yoga developed by Sri Yogacharya BKS Iyengar. While firmly grounded in the teachings of Classical Yoga, the hallmarks of Iyengar Yoga are:
- precise attention to the musculoskeletal, physiological and psychological structuring and sequencing of asana (yoga poses) and pranayama (yoga breathing)
- an intelligent and innovative use of props, enabling all individuals – including those with disease or disability – to practice and gain the benefits of yoga
- rigorous teacher training and accreditation standards
